Sanjiv D. Mehta, MD, MBE

Dr. Sanjiv Mehta is a research fellow in the Pediatric Hospital Epidemiology and Outcomes Research Training program managed by Clinical Futures, and a Pediatric Critical Care Attending at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania.   

Dr. Mehta is interested in investigating how we can predict, prepare for, and prevent clinical deterioration in hospitalized children. His current work is focused on building tools to predict clinical deterioration inside and outside the ICU to inform clinician decisions at the bedside. His previous work focused on developing automated measures of clinical deterioration with late recognition and understanding how delayed escalation of care can lead to worse outcomes for children.   

Dr. Mehta graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Biology and Economics-Philosophy. He received his medical degree and Master of Bioethics from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency training in General Pediatrics and fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
