Dr. Grundmeier completed the National Library of Medicine's extramural fellowship in clinical informatics and is now the section chief of informatics in the Department of Pediatrics, as well as the director of the clinical reporting unit in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics. He has extracted longitudinal patient, provider, and practice specific data on large panels of patients from the EHR. He has developed a framework for using web services to deliver complex clinical decision support to clinicians, patients, and their families through the EHR and patient portals. For over 10 years he has successfully used web-service decision support to improve healthcare delivery in multiple domains including immunization administration, preventive healthcare for premature infants, asthma management, attention-deficit disorder management, and traumatic brain injury assessment.
