Richard J. Chung, MD, is an Adolescent Medicine specialist and Senior Medical Director for Enterprise Adolescent Medicine, Population Health Management, and Transitions at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and a Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine, trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Duke University Medical Center, and completed his fellowship in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Pediatric Society.
Dr. Chung’s current research focuses on the application of population health management approaches to improve the healthcare experiences and outcomes of youth throughout the transition to adulthood, including advancements in risk stratification and predictive analytics, development of complex care management methods, and the design of advanced payment models. His work also seeks to improve the integration of healthcare and community systems and cultivate cross-sectoral partnerships which underscore the importance of educational, vocational, social, and cultural resources in the lives of youth.
