Kayla Knowles is a clinical research assistant at the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) and PolicyLab and the Craig Dalsimer Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Her previous research experience involves working in mHealth utilization in HIV care. Ms. Knowles has worked on a social media multisite demonstration project to improve medication adherence and retention in care among youth living with HIV as well as coordinated an expert consensus study to develop best practices for mHealth HIV prevention interventions. Currently, Ms. Knowles is working on a project aimed to improve health care transition from pediatric and adolescent care to adult care for youth living with HIV. In her spare time, she also contributes to the development of the Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic registry to capture comprehensive services provided to gender diverse patients at CHOP.

Ms. Knowles recently earned a Master of Public Health with a focus on community health and prevention and infectious disease from Drexel University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender and women’s studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She hopes to pursue a medical degree and is interested in providing and expanding access for sexual and reproductive health services.
