Jeritt Thayer, PhD

Jeritt Thayer, PhD is a core faculty member in Clinical Futures at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a software engineer at CHOP.

Dr. Thayer's research focuses on clinical decision support and health information exchange. His recent work focuses on understanding how the inclusion of contextual factors of health data can improve the integration of health information technology, identification of clinical decision support malfunctions from distributed systems, and developing and implementing new applications that combine interoperability standards, such as FHIR, SMART, CDS Hooks, and web-messaging frameworks.

Dr. Thayer has extensive expertise in database programming, software engineering, and human-centered design, and several years of experience deploying software to production clinical settings. He currently serves as a technical director and co-investigator on several NIH and AHRQ-funded projects to disseminate his research into new settings, co-founded a health startup, and advises multiple healthcare companies on their EHR integration efforts.
