Daniel Zheng, MD, MHS, MSHP

Daniel Zheng, MD, MHS, MSHP is an Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and an Attending Physician in Oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His research examines how social determinants of health impact outcomes across the pediatric cancer care continuum. He is specifically interested in identifying specific mechanisms that drive outcome disparities to inform the development of effective multi-level interventions with a particular focus on financial toxicity. 


Dr. Zheng studied psychology and subsequently obtained his MD and a Master’s in Health Sciences at Yale University. He also previously worked at a respite care facility for the homeless in Washington D.C. through Americorps. He completed his pediatrics residency through the Leadership in Equity and Advocacy (LEAD) Track of the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident. He completed his pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, as well as a Masters in Health Policy Research through the National Clinician Scholars Program (formerly known as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program) at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Zheng has been funded and supported by the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Study, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the CHOP Center for Health Equity.
