Clinical Conversations with Dr. Brian Jenssen: Tackling Tobacco Use in Adolescents
Share

In this video, part of our Clinical Conversations Series, Brian Jenssen, MD, MSHP, an expert from Clinical Futures, provides a comprehensive overview of his recent research on youth tobacco use.

Dr. Jenssen highlights an innovative program aimed at helping parents connect with smoking cessation services and implement population health management techniques. These efforts aim to protect children from secondhand smoke exposure and assist adolescents and their caregivers in quitting tobacco use. On March 31, 2025, at the Roberts Center for Pediatric Research at CHOP, Dr. Jenssen was part of a team of CHOP researchers awarded a Smoking Treatment Accreditation Recognition (STAR) for their work on integrating a Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tool called eCEASE, which connects families to tobacco cessation services within CHOP’s Primary Care Network.

Additionally, Dr. Jenssen and his colleague Dr. Deepa Camenga recently co-authored a commentary in "Pediatrics" that addresses the rising use of oral nicotine products among youth and emphasizes how important it is for pediatricians to reinforce the well-established understanding that any form of tobacco use among young people is unsafe.
