Carol A. Ford, MD, is an Adolescent Medicine physician and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and The Children's Hospital Philadelphia.
Education and experience
Dr. Ford earned her medical degree from the University of Florida, School of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She completed an internship and residency in Combined Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She continued her training with a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine - Department of Pediatrics, University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Ford served as Chief of the CHOP Division of Adolescent Medicine from 2010-2023.
Dr. Ford is Director of CHOP’s federally funded fellowship training program Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH). Dr. Ford is also Past-President of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM), and current Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Adolescent Health.
Research
Dr. Ford's research career has focused on improving adolescent and young adult health and addresses issues of access to high quality health care, patient-physician communication, involvement of parents in adolescent and young adult health care, and adolescent privacy concerns.
