Dr. Naveen Muthu is a core faculty member of the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) and the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHI) and an attending hospitalist at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He is also an instructor of pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Muthu graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in Biology, and from the University of Missouri with his M.D. He did his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital, and then joined CHOP for a fellowship in Clinical Informatics. He also completed certificates in clinical informatics and clinical research, from Oregon Health & Science University and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively.
Dr. Muthu’s research interest is in the area of cognitive informatics, with a focus on the refinement and application of cognitive engineering methods to improve health information technology safety and augment clinical decision-making.
