Tori Sutherland, MD, MPH

Tori Sutherland, MD, MPH is a core faculty member at the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE), an attending anesthesiologist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and an assistant professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.

Dr. Sutherland’s previous research experience includes maternal mortality reduction trials in Egypt, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe; as well as a clinical trial to characterize antimicrobial resistance in Rwanda. Currently, her primary interests include appropriate perioperative antibiotic use and reducing unnecessary opioid exposure among pediatric patients.

Dr. Sutherland received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She completed her internship in general surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, residency in anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
