Danielle Apple

Danielle Apple is a clinical research coordinator at the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) and PolicyLab and the Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is currently working on research focused on improving transgender health care, achieving health equity for LGBT youth, and prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and HIV.

Ms. Apple also has experience with research involving eating disorders and adolescent depression and anxiety. Prior to joining CHOP, Danielle coordinated two NIH-funded studies examining the roles of weight history and brain reward/inhibition in the risk and maintenance of eating disorders as well as assisted in a pilot study for a novel child anxiety treatment and a longitudinal study assessing neurological and behavioral risk factors for depression in adolescent females.

Ms. Apple earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology with minors in secondary education and children’s literature from the University of Pittsburgh. Danielle is interested in pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology and is interested in expanding access to mental health care for gender and sexual minority youth as well as identifying and creating preventative measures for adolescent body image disturbance.
